Pre-op Stuff

Ok, so this morning I got up at 3:30am, after only sleeping 3 hours so that I could get my pre-op out of the way.  Loaded up my little family at 4:30am and we were on our way.  Checked into the hospital at 9am.  From there I was sent in to complete pre-op registration, get labs done and give a urine sample.  I was then taken to complete a mini pulmonary and get an EKG.  I was also supposed to complete a 2nd blood draw to measure the oxygen levels in my blood, but after digging around in the artery vein about 7 different time, she gave up.  I then went to have my stomach ultrasound done, then up to have a chest x-ray and an upper GI.  Let me just tell you, that was the worst part.  You have to swallow a shot of this super fizzy stuff that tastes like salty acid.  Then you have to drink a cup of barium.  Let me tell you, if you haven't ever had to drink this crap, consider yourself lucky!  It literally tasted like blended chalk with a slight berry after-taste, it is also super thick like a milkshake and difficult to drink through a straw because it is so thick.  The best part?  They give it to you luke warm-sooo yummy!  GAG!  Nothing like luke warm chalky sludge on an empty stomach to make your day complete!  The good news?  I am through with everything and the next step is surgery.  I cannot believe how close it is!  I will now be on a liquid diet until Tuesday.  I can have all clear liquids, protien shakes and all the jello I can stand.....I am so lucky I only have to do this for a week as they require you typically to be on the liquid diet for 2 weeks pre-op-I think I would not be fun to be around after 2 weeks of that!  I am so excited that things will be done soon.  I am looking forward to my new life and cannot wait for it to begin!

  2. I'm stoked for you! All kinds of new sexiness is going to be pouring out! That's saying a lot since you were smoking hot before. Are we going to get to see you when we go to AZ?

  3. Stew-in regards to the whole sexiness thing, I learned it by watching you! So I am totally going to make sure I get to see you guys while you are here. Tell me the dates so I can figure out a plan. Will you guys have access to a car? Or do we need to meet you somewhere? I miss you guys soooo much-can't imagine how big the kiddo's are! Cannot wait to see you, my male counterpart!

  4. I'm not sure if we'll have a car so we'll probably need to meet you somewhere near Chera's parent's house or something like that. I'll get Chera to call you in the next couple of days. Can't wait to see you guys!!

  5. Ahhh, the barium drink was the worst when I had an upper GI. I feel your pain. LOL! At least your pre-op is over with. :)
